Studies have shown that massage during pregnancy can have many great
benefits to both the mother and infant.

♥ Stress Reduction
- very high levels of stress may contribute to preterm birth or low birth weight in full-term babies. Regular massage
can help reduce stress and provide emotional support for you through this exciting and sometimes stressful time.
|
 |
|
♥ Pain Relief - massage
can help relieve pregnancy discomfort including muscle cramps, spasms, and myofascial pain, especially in the lower back,
legs, hips, and neck.
|
 |
|
♥ Reduce Swelling - massage
stimulates blood and lymph circulation, which helps reduce swelling.
♥ Improves
Labor - receiving massage during pregnancy can improve the labor outcome and help ease labor pain. As part
of your pregnancy massage visit, you will be shown simple exercises, breathing and postural techniques that can be very useful
throughout your pregnancy and during labor. Labor support can also have a tremendous affect on you and your
partners labor experience. Call for details or visit It Takes a Village, A New Life Begins, or Pinellas Doula for more information.
During your treatment, your massage therapist may incorporate
several modalities including Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques and Zone Therapy. All in a relaxing spa-like
atmosphere. Depending on your term, positioning may allow you to lie on your stomach, back, side or semi-reclining position.
You and your baby's comfort and safety is our top priority. As
part of your therapeutic prenatal sessions, your therapist will discuss specific ideas for self-care activities. These
can include ways to keep your posture intact, ways to use cushions and stretches, breathing techniques to help you relax,
and techniques to prepare for labor.
